Matt McDermott, MA, LMHC

I am a Seattle based Licensed Mental Health Counselor, co-founder and owner of Reflections Therapy Group. I bring with me the skills I gained from my previous experience as a youth counselor at a residential crisis center for at-risk youth, where I worked for 4 years . My focus in this role is to be an advocate to individuals in crisis, a champion for those who need someone in their corner, and a guide to help unlock the strengths and skills we all carry within ourselves.

I am trained as an ADHD-CCSP, and specialize in folks with ADHD, teens and adults, who are trying to navigate through the world within the lens of their neurodiversity. Through both lived experience and professional training, I can help you navigate a world built for neurotypical peoples.

I believe that every person has the right to individualized care. Because we are all unique, what works for one client may not work for the next. I like to approach helping clients with a fresh lens every time, getting to know them first, and figuring out which therapeutic approach to best help their situation second. Building a relationship of trust and openness is the most important part to therapy, and being able to create an atmosphere where the client feels safe and secure is my goal. Maybe you’ve done this before, and maybe this is your first time in therapy; my approach will not change. I want to find what works best for you so you can get the most out of this experience.

In my free time, I have a myriad of hobbies, fueled by my extroverted personality. I love spending time with friends, checking out new parts of my city, and trying every single coffee shop I see! On rainy days, I spend time inside cooking, baking or woodworking.
